Top Eye Surgery Procedures at Eye Galleryeye surgery plano tx

At Eye Gallery, our team provides comprehensive vision and eye health care to our patients. When you visit your optometrist in Plano, you’ll get one-on-one support for any vision concern you have. Our goal is always to prevent complications and symptoms, but also to protect your vision for as long as possible. In some situations, we may recommend eye surgery. Whether or not you need this type of procedure depends on many factors including the condition you have and the other treatments we’ve used previously.

Eye Surgeries You May Need

After an eye exam with your optometrist, as well as other diagnostic testing, we may recommend eye surgery to you if your condition warrants it. One of the most common types of eye surgery is vision correction. There are several types of vision correction procedures we offer.

LASIK Eye Surgery is perhaps the most well known for all vision correction procedure. This type of laser vision correction procedure can provide significant improvement to a person’s vision. Here, we cut a thin flap of the outer covering of the eyes. This changes and reshapes the cornea. This procedure only takes a few hours to complete and, within a short amount of time, vision is sharper and clear. LASIK is done using a mechanical cutting tool that’s guided by our experienced professionals.

Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) involves changing the cornea through the removal of tissue as well. It was the first type of vision correction to be used heavily. It was first approved by the FDA in 1995. The procedure is much the same but this process takes a bit more time to see results.

Conductive keratoplasty is another form of vision correction surgery. This procedure is done to help those who suffer from farsightedness. Here, a small probe and low heat radio waves are used to create spots on the cornea. This helps to improve vision for the patient.

Implantable lenses are another type of correction procedure. These artificial lenses are fitted over the natural lens within the eye. This type of procedure, called Refractive Lens Exchange, can correct more advanced types of farsightedness.

When contact lenses and eyeglasses are not enough, we may recommend any of these eye surgeries. With advanced solutions available, though, many patients can see significant improvement in a short amount of time.
